The production of “Alchemist” has been postponed.
Earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival, it was announced that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Studios had collaborated with Netter Films to create “Alchemist”, but of “Transfer of Rights”. The project has been put on hold due to a problem.
A spokeswoman told The Hollywood Reporter: “This is not a funding issue, but a transfer of rights issue. There is a gap in the normal practice of transfer of production rights, resulting in a temporary shutdown of production. Sebastian de Souza, Tom Hollander and Shohreh Aghdashloo lead the cast of Paulo Coelho’s novel adaptation.
Directed by Kevin Flake, the film will be filmed in Morocco in September and will be released in 2022.
It is not clear if a temporary shutdown will affect the release date.
