Bassam Tariq is in talks to direct a new “Blade” movie.
The filmmaker of “Mogul Mowgli” can be set to direct a new adaptation of the Marvel character along with Mahershala Ali, which is set to portray a Vampire hunter.
The flick was written by Stacy Osei Kufer, produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige.
According to Deadline, Mahershala, Kevin and Marvel executives have met with dozens of candidates since last year.
As Stacy was hired to write the script, the studio shortened the list of possible directors and began another round of the meeting. All potential filmmakers realized the film’s vision, and Bassam eventually beat the film’s boss.
Blade first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1973. He is a hybrid of humans and vampires because his mother was bitten and killed by a vampire monster during childbirth.
The character was previously played by Wesley Snipes in three films between 1998 and 2004, and Kevin explained that he was desperate to revive Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
He states: “We’ve been wanting to find new ways to blade for years. We love the character. We love the world.
“Now that Doctor Strange and the supernatural elements have arrived in the MCU, we definitely feel like we can start exploring it.
“Mahershala wanted to come see us. When Mahershala Ali wants to meet, you attend the meeting.
“I think he just won the second Academy Award. We were talking very politely about what kind of fan he was. And we said yes. It was like. “
