[WARNING: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2, Episode 2, “Foothold.”]
So far, AMC Season 2 The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Teenager’s hope (Alexa Mansour) Separated from her sister Iris (Aliyah Royale), Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Kubrek of the Civil Republic Army (Julia Ormond) And now … Are you on a walking tour of your CRM station?
Hope finally had her father, scientist Dr. Leo Bennett (Joe Holt), a young adult ragtag group, feeling more like a college visit than we expected from a shooting military base. I was able to see where I was in front of them and set out on their miserable journey. And don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of guards and cameras — and Hope literally pays attention to them all.
What problem does she cause because she is behind the CRM wall? Does she want to stay? And how much will her new character in orbit influence her decision? I chose Mansour’s brain as some clues as to where Hope’s adventures in Season 2 are heading.
First, you had a lot to do in the premiere episode — you went through the squeezer. How much of your own stunt work could you do for it?
Alexa Mansour: Yes, it was a lot of fun. I think this was one of my favorite episodes I’ve shot so far. [And] I didn’t fall down the stairs, but I think it was around 70/30.
Was there anything particularly difficult about shooting that episode?
After going down the stairs when Hope woke up — blood was dripping from my head and we couldn’t get it in the right direction. It was in my eyes, was back all the time, or wasn’t dripping at all. I think it took about 40 minutes to complete the shot.
After Episode 2, Hope is completely under CRM control, taking a tour and knowing the origin of the land … where is her head? What is she thinking?
She is very torn. She doesn’t know if she should get along with people and start integrating herself into this new community, or continue what she and her sister planned to abolish CRM. You feel good, right? She’s surrounded by ordinary people and has nothing to worry about, but she’s fighting this inner battle about what to do next. She now lives in fantasy and is trying to regain herself in the harsh reality of what is happening outside the wall.
How much do you think she is affected by the fact that her old house is no longer there and this new house really resembles where they came from?
Yeah, it’s really similar. I think she was doing this to take her dad home. And to understand it, “Wait, I’ve sacrificed myself for something that isn’t even there anymore, what’s the point of this?” Her home There is almost hopelessness and anger after knowing that was destroyed, but it is out of her control. There is nothing she can do. That’s probably one of the most annoying things about her.
As pointed out in this episode, does she want to help her father, even though she has few options?
Yeah, I don’t think she will realize her abilities with it. I don’t think she really knows how smart she is. But later in the season, there is a moment when Hope has a light bulb moment and she says, “I’m actually a little smart.” And it’s great for her to feel that she’s part of something bigger. She is worth something, means something, and cannot be said to be important. But she’s indignant at CRM and everyone there for everything she’s done so far, so it’s like “Why do I want to help you?”
There is also her father’s new girlfriend, Dr. Relabel Shaw (Natalie Gold). What does she think of this woman who reports directly to the lieutenant colonel and probably does not have the highest morals of science?
Hope is looking at one side of her, but she’s convinced she knows something is wrong because Hope is the kind of person who doesn’t think Hope is seizing a chance with someone after a hack. But she’s going to play a game because she wants to go deeper with everyone. Hope’s important thing is to forge it until she makes it.
Another new character I met in Episode 2 was Mason (Wil Myers). Do you see a romantic relationship built there?
I can’t talk much about their relationship, but Mason brings more to the table than just the future. [potential] I love my interest in hope. More is happening to the child Hope is trying to find and use for the benefit of her and the group.
How much does she think about Iris and Felix (Nico Totorella)?
She wants to find them. That’s her main goal, but Hope knows that whatever the iris is, it’s okay, and the iris is strong enough to survive on her own and get over things on her own. She’s not too worried, but I think the main thing is to let Iris know that their dad is safe.she [also] I want to make sure everything is ok and the group still holds it.
Was it strange that there was no scene with Aliyah after working closely with Aliyah last year?
Oh yeah, it was really, really strange. When I finally saw her on the set, it was … very nice. It was really great.
What can you tell us about the future of Hope after Episode 3?
Many difficult decisions and fast growth must be done. Hope is acting as another when she is behind those walls. Not only does she think of her family and try to do her best for them, but also the impact of their actions on the lives of everyone else and hundreds of thousands of others. I am. There are many big decisions.
