Ellie Goulding describes her next album as “dancing from space.”
After becoming “quite introspective” in her last studio activity, “Brightest Blue” in 2020, a 34-year-old singer revealed she’s returning to her electronic dance-pop roots. ..
She told the Joe Wicks podcast:
“I had a backlog of what I wanted to write. It was very deep and touching. And this album is the opposite.
“I noticed that this team of dream writers are all on the same page, for some reason, without even having to talk about it. We are doing this mission just to have fun together.
“We want to make music that makes people dance and forget everything about the past year.
“It’s like a dance record. It’s electronic pop, it’s a dance from space.”
Ellie signaled a new era when she teamed up with Mark Ronson and Diplo on the disco pop banger “New Love” in January.
“Brightest Blue” marked the first LP in five years for the “Love Me Like You Do” hit maker, admitting that she hadn’t previously felt “emotional preparation” to make the album at the time.
Erie, who became her first mother in April with a little boy named Arthur with her husband Caspar Jopling, said: The song didn’t arrive, it wasn’t strong enough in my opinion.
“So I waited until I was properly prepared and emotionally equipped.
“I got married back in London, partly because of technical changes, such as a change of management. It’s only now that I feel like a lot has happened and I’m ready to re-accept my life.”
