Music creation platform Splice has announced its first artist in residence program with producer Kenny Beats.
Beats is known for his work with Rico Nasty, Dominic Fike, FKA Twigs, Denzel Curry, Freddie Gibbs, Zack Fox and Vince Staples.
The round took Splice’s total funding to over $155m, including a $57.5m Series C funding round in March 2019.
On the Splice platform, Beats will share production tips and techniques, touch on engineering and vocal production, and offer advice for aspiring producers on networking and branding.
Later this year, Splice and Beats will also collaborate on an exclusive merch drop and Discord activation. Dates are yet to be announced.
Beats’ six-part Skills series will drop weekly starting October 13.
His lessons will sit alongside over 100 classes from the likes of Erin Barra and Thavius Beck, offering video lessons that guide users through current music-making, says the company.
Splice says it carries more than 2 million curated, pre-cleared samples on its platform.
In 2021 alone, Splice Sounds launched new sounds and samples from Murda Beatz, Taiko, Tayla Parx, Clean Bandit, Oliver and Fraser T Smith.
