LVMH has acquired a majority stake in Off-White LLC.
A French company specializing in luxury goods and a conglomerate have acquired a 60% stake in the company that owns Virgil Abloh’s Off-White brand.
The designer retains his title as creative director of the streetwear brand and retains 40% ownership.
The team will work with LVMH to grow existing and new off-white brands as well.
The deal news came after Virgil recently praised the 2021 Fall / Winter collection as an “adult.”
The CEO of the fashion label debuted the next line at Haute Couture Week in Paris, France. Bella Hadid was walking on the runway in an impressive blue gown. The off-white fashion muse has matured since its last collection.
He said: “It’s rebelling against my own younger version.
“This is the first time I’ve actually said that. Usually I say I’m trying to keep my younger version. But in a strange” tadder “way, it’s something like this: Off-white must be an adult! “
The artistic director of the Louis Vuitton menswear collection has grown a lot in the COVID-19 pandemic that permeated his designs.
He added: “I think I grew the most in the shortest amount of time, especially if I look at my work all year long. And that’s very obvious when I look at the work. I see maturity.”
Meanwhile, Virgil has previously revealed that it has launched a fashion brand to pursue architecture.
The 40-year-old designer earned a master’s degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, but instead of following the traditional route, he created Off-White to “investigate” architecture.
He states: “I don’t believe in disciplines. We can use the brains of architecture to do many things, not just their original purpose.
“I started my career not only at SOM, but also to create a brand that builds where I should have started my architectural career. In a way, I created a brand to research architecture. “
