Michael Shannon, Emilia Clarke and Dane DeHaan will appear in a biography about US politician Joseph McCarthy.
Shannon is a notorious and powerful senator and his enabler, his politically ambitious wife Jean Kerr (Clark), a ruthless young lawyer Roy Cohn (DeHaan) and his trusted friend Ray Kiermas ( McNairy).
The film is directed by Vaclav Marhoult and has a practical title of “McCarthy”. It tells how McCarthy became famous in American politics in the waves of anti-communist hysteria from the 1940s to the 1950s.
Tom O’Connor will write the original script for the film and work with Zack Stadin. Rick McCallum, who has worked on some of the Star Wars movies, is an executive producer.
The film will be screened in both the United States and Prague in late 2022.
Emilia’s previous credits included her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the Game of Thrones and the romantic comedy Last Christmas.
The 34-year-old actress said: “It’s a bloody annoyance.
“It’s frustrating … it’s more complicated than people guess.”
Emilia accused the world of being “scary and confused” as fans desperately tried to find information about their favorite movies and TV shows.
She explained: “I’m careful about how to express this, but it’s not surprising. It’s well known that the current state of our world is scary and confusing, and that a lot of things are happening that are completely out of place. The fact is our control.
“So when it comes to signing a petition to re-shoot last season on a very popular TV show, people do something about it as to whether it ruins a terrible Christmas romantic comedy. can.”
